A short-cut review was carried out to establish whether steroid therapy is useful in patients with vestibular neuronitis. A total of 222 papers was found using the reported search, six of them represented the best evidence to answer this clinical question. The respective author, date and country of publication, patient group studied, study type, relevant outcomes, results and study weaknesses of these best papers are shown in table 1. It is concluded that there is insufficient evidence to recommend the adoption of this practice in the emergency setting.
