Silicone ear plugs: are they safe for use?

In 4 months we have treated eight patients with silicone ear buds as foreign bodies in the ear canal. These are manufactured by several companies (Soft silicone earplugs (Boots own brand), Bio ears (Cirrus health care products1)) and are popularly used by people for their noise reduction qualities.
