I read with interest the article Emergency medicine pharmacists on an international scale by Coralic and Hayes.1 Clinical pharmacy services in Emergency Medicine (EM) are well established in North America, but far less common in Europe.

As part of my 4-year pharmacy residency in Spain, I recently undertook a pharmacy preceptorship in the United States of America (USA), at the Emergency Department (ED) of the University Medical Center, Tucson Arizona, which has 100 000 visits annually and at the ED of the University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, New York, USA, with an annual census of 120 000 patients.
