    CLINICAL INTRODUCTION

    An elderly patient presented to the emergency department from a care home after the patient had a brief loss of consciousness and had vomited three times, non-bilious in nature. The patient had a recent history of diarrhoea (1 week) for which they were given loperamide. The patient also had a past medical history including a dense left hemiparesis and dementia.
