Diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis of the lower extremity: A systematic review and meta-analysis of test accuracy
2020, Blood AdvancesCitation Excerpt :Early diagnosis and clinical intervention are important for managing DVT and minimizing adverse consequences, as well as to exclude the diagnosis in those who do not have the disease, thereby avoiding added costs and risks of anticoagulant therapy. DVT is usually unilateral and is clinically suspected in patients presenting with acute-onset pain, swelling, erythema and/or warmth of the lower extremity involved.3 These clinical manifestations are nonspecific and objective testing is required to confirm or exclude the diagnosis.4
