This was shown in a randomized trial comparing sutures and staples for the closure of scalp lesions, the average time of closure with staples being 47 seconds compared to 6 minutes with sutures, with a comparable rate of infection [6]. Our results showed a similar proportion of dislodgments between the 2 fixation modalities.
