2013, Anesthesiology ClinicsCitation Excerpt :Contrary to popular opinion, it is not possible to determine whether a recorded arterial waveform is overdamped or underdamped simply by casually observing waveform morphology (see Fig. 3).11 The only way to determine whether a recorded waveform is distorted is to assess the dynamic response of the CTT system.11,12 This assessment can be accomplished at the bedside by performing a flush test,13 or in simulations by introducing a square wave11 and analyzing the resulting oscillating waves.13
