Reaction of pregnenolone with cyanoacetylhydrazine: Novel synthesis of hydrazide-hydrazone, pyrazole, pyridine, thiazole, thiophene derivatives and their cytotoxicity evaluations
2012, SteroidsCitation Excerpt :As a result, a number of different heterocyclic systems have been introduced into the core structure of steroids with pyrazoles, pyrazolines, isoxazoles, isoxazolines, thiazoles, thiadiazoles, pyridines, pyrimidines, imidazoles, etc. as the notable ones. Amongst these heterocycles, pyrazoles, thiophenes and thiaoles are an interesting group of compounds, many of which possess wide spread pharmacological properties such as analgesic, antipyretic and antiandrogenic activities [6–14]. Pyrazoles also possess antidepressant, anti-inflammatory and antirheumatic activities [15–17].
Eicosanoids in non-febrile thermoregulation
2007, Progress in Brain ResearchCitation Excerpt :In other words, normal, “non-febrile”Tb may have a febrile component, due to constant stimulation of the immune system with bacterial products of normal intestinal flora. However, the administration of antipyretic drugs to humans, at doses sufficient to reduce febrile temperatures, has not provided convincing evidence to support a role of PGs in the maintenance of normal Tb (Clark and Clark, 1981; Clark, 1987). Sée (1877) reported that salicylate did not significantly alter Tb in healthy animals or man.
