Redefining Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI) delineates cost effective triage
2020, American Journal of Emergency MedicineCitation Excerpt :Of these, 67 (9.4%) patients had acute traumatic brain lesions; only 2 (0.3%) patients required urgent neurosurgical interventions [11]. Similarly, Miller et al. found a 6.4% incidence of abnormal head CT in 2143 patients; but only 0.2% needed neurosurgical treatment [12]. Likewise, Dunham et al. reported a 3% incidence of abnormal head CT with a GCS score of 15; 2 (0.13%) patients in this cohort required neurosurgical treatments [13].
