This is a very helpful review. The use of alternatives to sutures is often seen as a second best. Children must be treated in the most appropriate manner. Any slight imperfection may become a lifelong problem.
A useful addition would be a clarification of the selection criteria for wounds in the study; were site, shape, depth, tension important issues.

We read the article by Mattick et al. [1,2] on the use of tissue adhesives in the management of paediatric lacerations. The authors touched upon the hazards of the glue getting into the eye. We recently came across a 6 years old patient whose eyelids were glued together. She had sustained a forehead laceration just above the eyebrow after a fall and presented to the local casualty unit.
