Our friend, Clifford Mann, who has died aged 58, was an inspirational, once-in-a-generation leader and humanitarian who held many auspicious national roles and used them all to drive evidence-based improvements in emergency care. He was awarded an OBE in 2018 for services to emergency medicine.

He was also an outstanding wit, raconteur and orator but above all, he was a loving husband, father and family man; this was always his highest priority.
