The condition should be suspected in anyone giving a history of persistent shoulder pain following trauma or intensive sporting activities. Characteristic resorption of the distal tip of the clavicle is found on X-ray. The condition usually responds within 2 years to conservative treatment. Previous reports of the condition are reviewed, and the possible pathogenesis and differential diagnosis discussed.
