The paediatric team doctors wear regular clothes. When I began working in the department 10 months ago, I was informed by lead clinicians from both the paediatric and the ED that it would help my transition as the new PEM consultant if I wore greens while on the shop floor. Several sets of ‘consultant green scrubs’ were given to me within a couple of weeks and I wore them regularly on the shop floor. Indeed, I was accepted as one of the team members by emergency physicians, trainees, nurses and nurse practitioners.
