South Med J. 1985 Nov;78(11):1392-3. doi: 10.1097/00007611-198511000-00038.

Abstract

A spontaneous pneumothorax complicated by severe bleeding presents a potentially grave emergency. If bleeding continues, thoracotomy becomes necessary to control the hemorrhage, to evacuate residual blood and clots, and to repair the break in the continuity of the lung.
